The
Giving Cow
Project

Since 1914, Kemps farm families have been providing wholesome products to communities throughout the midwest. And now, through The Giving Cow Project, we aim to do even more to care for those in our communities who need it most.

Milk on a Mission

The Giving Cow is an an 8 oz. airtight carton of 2% milk that’s shelf-stable for up to a year, which meets the unique requirements of our local food shelves. And it’s not for sale. It’s only available through our partners’ food shelves and backpack programs.

1 in 6 children struggles with hunger in our own backyard.

And families served by food shelves often receive less than 1 gallon of milk per person a year.

Milk is one of the most requested items at food shelves, yet it’s one of the least donated, because it requires refrigeration throughout the entire journey from donation to table. Kids-in-need are hit especially hard, even if they get milk through free or reduced-price meal programs at school, because those programs don’t help during the evenings, weekends, or holidays.

An essential ingredient for growing kids.

An 8 oz. glass of 2% milk is one of the easiest and healthiest ways for kids to get the nutrition they need.

  • More protein than an egg
  • Helps kids feel full

100% REAL MILK

Shelf-stable milk is still 100% milk. The only difference is that it’s pasteurized in a completely enclosed and controlled environment at a higher temperature and packaged in an airtight carton, which prevents the growth of bacteria for longer and eliminates the need for refrigeration. And since many food shelves lack adequate cooler space, The Giving Cow, is the perfect solution to providing milk to kids-in-need. It can last up to 12 months at room temperature and still have all the same nutrients, vitamins and deliciousness as refrigerated milk.

Nourishing Childhood For All.
