Krause Family Farm

Someone in my family has been getting up to milk cows every day for the last hundred years.”

Krause Holsteins is a sixth-generation dairy farm, located in Buffalo, Minn. Today, three generations work together, Charles Krause with his father Warren, wife Robyn and their children, Andrew and Morgan, milking 225 holstein cows.

The newest barn at Krause Holsteins uses a truss system to increase airflow and thermostat-controlled curtains to improve cow comfort and increase energy efficiency. The barn also recycles the manure into bedding and in addition to the environmental benefits, it’s actually better bedding for the cows.

My entire life I’ve been dairy farming and I’ve moved four times and half a mile from where I started. I know this is where I want to be. This is what I want to do.”
